WATER DAMAGE

CLASS 1

Class 1 is the least harmful water damage.  Originates from a sanitary water source and does not pose a substantial risk from dermal, ingestion, or inhalation exposure. Examples can include: Water supply lines, melting ice/snow, rainwater

CLASS 3

Grossly contaminated and can contain pathogenic, toxigenic, or other harmful agents and can cause significant adverse reactions to humans if contacted or consumed. Examples of Category 3 water damage can include: Sewage

CLASS 2

A class 2 water loss affects at least an entire room of carpet and cushion. Water has gone up the walls less than 24 inches. There is moisture remaining in structural materials like plywood, particle board, structural wood, VCT, and concrete

CLASS 4

Class 4 water damage involves specialized situations where materials with very low porosity or absorbance have been submerged and saturated. This includes hardwood, concrete, plaster and masonry typically located in subfloors, basements and crawl spaces..

ABOUT

What Is Mold Growth?

Why Is Mold Dangerous?

Mold damage is a secondary factor that follows water damage. If the cause of the primary damage is not resolved in a timely manner and water is left standing or high moisture levels persist, mold growth may begin. While it is possible to use mold-resistant building materials and paints, the easiest way to stop mold in its tracks is to control moisture levels.

Molds produce allergens (substances that can cause allergic reactions) and irritants. Inhaling or touching mold or mold spores may cause allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. Allergic responses include hay fever-type symptoms, such as sneezing, runny nose, red eyes, and skin rash.

On Fire

FIRE

  • Class A – Class A fires involve solid materials like wood, trash, and textiles. Ordinary combustibles. These fires are most familiar to us and are the most easily extinguished.

  • Class B – Class B fires involve flammable liquids like gasoline, alcohol, diesel, or oil (not cooking oils). The volatility of the fuel source makes them more difficult.

  • Class C – Class C fires involve electrical components and equipment as fuel sources. This includes fires started by faulty wiring in walls, circuit breakers, and appliances.

  • Class D – Class D fires involve metals. In rare instances, metal can ignite. This is primarily a problem in lab environments, as well as certain production and other industrial processes.

  • Class K – Class K fires involve cooking oils and fats. Sometimes they are lumped in with Class B, but they are their own beast. These fires are typically started when someone leaves a pan unattended.

Fires can be especially devastating to your home or business. A fire loss does not create just “dirty” clothes or contents.  A trained eye is necessary to quickly triage contents that can be salvaged and ones that can’t. If they are restorable, restoration requires unique, specific techniques performed by knowledgeable, highly-trained technicians in order to effectively salvage them. The goal of fire damage restoration services is for EPRO to salvage damaged  items and restore your home so that it can once again be inhabited. No job is TOO big for us!
